Survey Reveals Oklahoma Employers Adding Incentives to Increase Retention

Oklahoma employers in a growing job market face increased competition to recruit and retain the best employees. Companies must increase employee benefit programs, adding bonuses and performance based raises, to keep their employees happy. A multi-industry survey of 225 Oklahoma City hiring managers conducted by Mosaic Personnel reveals these findings.

Nearly 60% of companies polled reported growth, saying their workforce would grow by almost one quarter this year. According to Bobbi Bailey, Sr. Vice President at Mosaic Personnel, “Companies who want to hire great talent need to move as quickly as possible through the process- if not you will lose the candidate!” She reiterates, “The Oklahoma market is tight on candidates.”

Oklahoma employers are headed toward a long-term battle for exceptional talent. To position themselves properly, some companies are offering key employees unexpected rewards. In addition to bonuses and pay raises, a popular new retention technique offers flexible scheduling or work-from-home options. For integral employees, this benefit helps balance their work commitment and home life.

Fortunately, companies also benefit from flexible work arrangements. A study by the Georgetown University Law Center finds that a 1% increase in work-from-home employees increases a firm’s profit rate by six-tenths of a percent. For the average firm in their study, this profit increase equaled around $84 million, resulting from increased employee loyalty, lower employee absenteeism and fewer real estate, office and overhead costs.

In this transitional economy, a creative look at retention incentives has resulted in gain for both the company and the employee.
